To Parents of La Mirada AYSO:
We have endeavored for the past 9+ months to reconstitute an AYSO program in your community which satisfies the City's concerns for local control while at the same time ensures the delivery of an AYSO program which maintains the high standards which AYSO requires of all of its programs.
As of this time, we have been unable to satisfy ourselves that such a program can be run in Fall 2008. Hence, we have decided to suspend the program unless and until we can resolve outstanding concerns. We are advising you of the situation so that your children may find an alternate AYSO venue to play in. We have advised your neighboring AYSO programs – Whittier and La Habra – of the situation, and they are willing to accept registrations within the limits of their capacity and residency constraints.
We want to assure you that we do so very reluctantly and only after exploring every avenue possible to find a solution. The Region 22 program has always been run by and for the community, and AYSO National's role has been to safeguard the integrity of the program and ensure that it maintains the high standards you have come to expect out of an AYSO program.
We have offered to leave the goalposts for use by the City and the School District until we can relaunch the program, which we hope will be in the near future. We will continue to have a dialogue with the City in the hopes of achieving a mutually agreeable solution.
Thank you for your participation in the AYSO program.
Sincerely,
Rick Davis
National Executive Director
